You're going to like blogging. It's "journaling" with casual research and this unexpected bonus:feedback for a total strangers. Back in April, I wrote a series called Why Bloggers Blog I really wanted to know the answer. (To read the whole series, go to my archives, it starts April 17 and ends on May 8, 2007.)
When I first started teaching English, I had my seniors keep journals (3-4 entiries a week). They turned them in on Mondays. If I were doing it now, I'd have my writing students set up a "blog" just for my class (that keeps it in your domain so that the rules of your class apply to the blogs--this is a shared and public space. Diaries are private; journals are intended to be read. They have to understand that, otherwise you could have a MySpace nightmare on your hands. Who knows where blogs will be in ten years? Which reminds me, if you have a post, you're really proud of save it as a Word document on your hard drive and print a hard copy.
Sorry about this long comment--It's just this new English teacher enthusiasm. It takes me back! But enought talk of school--it's June!
Nice post today. It suits your name (I took two years of Latin). That Latin word always reminds me of a song I heard a young choir sing a long time ago Cares Chorus

Welcome to blogland. POI is right...you should REALLY read his Why Bloggers Blog. It's excellent. I especially like the part about civitas.
