Carrots and Closets...

Many, many (breathe and sigh) many moons ago, it was lunchtime at preschool. Jess took out her cache of baby carrots, Cheez-Its, pieces of cheese, probably raisins, and juice. Her teacher commented on its wonderful color and uniqueness. Now one may question why this story has left such an indelible mark in Mom's mind ? Mom will tell you. Suffice it to say that we clearly needed bread to make the usual fare of pb&j or some other sought after sandwich. For some unremembered reason, though I am sure it stems from too-much-to-do-not-enough-time-to-do-it-no-bread-no-big-deal theory, coupled with packing up two little girls at their appointed bedtime because there was no available sitter and, as I told Jess, "Mom can't leave two little girls safe by locking them in an upstairs room", Mom decided to get creative and render a wonderfully colorful and unique nosh.

As it is said, life is all a matter of perspective.

Jess' response to her teacher? "We have no food and Mom said she would lock us in a closet if we asked for any."

...and they still let me take her home.
